German wind turbine manufacturer PowerWind GmbH has completed the installation of five PowerWind 56 wind turbines in Poland and Romania, the company's first machines in the region.

Near Toplet, a Romanian town situated in the south western foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, two turbines were installed for Monsson Alma Srl. They are expected to go into operation this month. In Poland, three wind turbines were installed in Ludkowo and Chelmiczki. Both sites are located about 120 kilometres east of Poznan and in total, the turbines have a rated capacity of 4.5 megawatts.

Dr.-Ing. Rainer Kniehl, advisor to Monsson Alma, one of Romania's leading wind farm developers said: “Besides the technological concept of the turbine, we were impressed by the fact that the PowerWind 56 is particularly well-suited to logistically challenging sites."

Stefan Heczko, MD ofPowerWindadded: "Poland and Romania are two of our key markets. We are convinced that these countries have considerable growth potential."

A dear friend of mine, Claudiu Zaharia, sent me some pictures taken during a big storm that happened 2 weeks ago in Constanta. He was doing a visit to his turbines an did some nice pics with he's mobile. I hope you like them.

I just was 2 weeks ago visiting the location we planned for Fanatanele Wind Park . As you may already know , this should be the biggest wind park in Europe, maybe in the world...we will see. I am very proud that Wind Power Energy (WPE) worked on this project. 3 years ago i was playing in WindPRO and moving the wtg's around the site... these were the good times...

About the wind park : Fantanele and Cogealac are situated in the Dobrogea province, north of
Constanta, about 17 kilometers from the Black Sea. The wind farm will comprise 240 GE 2.5xl turbines with a 100 meter hub height, a 99 meter rotor diameter, and a 2.5 megawatt capacity. Wind speeds are excellent, and the project is carefully situated to minimize environmental impact.

I was surprised to see the roads finished and some of the wtg's foundations in progress...As you drive trough , you can also see a construction site info panel , GE, Areva, Enerobit, Eneria and Viarom, being the main partners in the project.

First we checked out our SODAR, installed in the nearby surroundings ... everything ok there ... also the wind speed ...

The foundation in nice, but the ring is even nicer, big, big! Can you imagine the state of art technology the turbine are made with? just amazing...

• Un monitor PC lasat aprins toata noaptea foloseste energia electrica suficienta pentru a imprima cu laser 800 de pagini A4.
• Daca fiecare casa din Marea Britanie ar monta macar un bec care economiseste curent electric, s-ar economisi destula energie electrica pentru a alimenta 3 milioane de case timp de 1 an.

• 25% din populatie foloseste 80% din energia electrica disponibila.

• Un bec care economiseste curent electric reduce consumul de electricitate cu 80% fata de un bec normal.

• TV-ul, imprimanta, computerul sau orice alt aparat electronic lasat in stand-by consuma intre 40% si 70% din energia pe care ar consuma-o daca ar fi aprins, ceea ce inseamna o cheltuiala inutila in plus si o risipa de energie.

• O masina de spalat isi reduce consumul de electricitate cu o treime daca spala la 40 de grade C in loc de 60 de grade C.

• 50% din energia folosita de incarcatoarele de telefoane mobile este risipita prin lasarea acestora in priza fara ca telefonul sa fie conectat la ele.

• Casele izolate termic necesita mai putina caldura pe timp de iarna. Peretii neizolati fac sa se piarda 35% din caldura, in timp ce alte 25 de procente se pierd din cauza unui acoperis neizolat.

• Reducerea temperaturii cu doar un grad Celsius poate micsora factura la caldura cu 10%.

• Se estimeaza ca daca ar fi revalorificat 30% din consumul curent de termoplastice din Marea
  Britanie, pentru a substitui materia prima virgina, ar fi realizate economii substantiale de energie, iar
  emisiile de dioxid de carbon ar fi reduse cu aproape 3 milioane de tone pe an.

• Sapte din zece excursii in Marea Britanie sunt facute cu masina.

• In Marea Britanie, la ora de varf, 8.50, aproape una din cinci masini transporta copii catre scoala.

• Proportia copiilor intre 5 si 16 ani care se duc la scoala cu masina a crescut de la 16% in 1985/6 la 28% in 1996/8, in timp ce utilizarea bicicletei in transport a scazut de la 4% la 1%, iar mersul pe jos a devenit mai putin frecvent, scazand de la 59% la 49% in preferintele britanicilor.

Vineri, 16 ianuarie am fost in Bulgaria la prietenii nostrii de la SME Wind. Dupa ce am facut cunostiintă la RENEXPO in Bucuresti, SME Wind, cei mai buni din zona producţiei de stâlpi, am facut o vizită la atelierul lor din Dobrici si separat, am inspectat câteva locaţii. Dimtcho, managing partner, ne-a impărtăşit secretul cum că îşi deschid şi ei un birou in Constanta. Sper sa le mearga bine şi le promitem că îi vom ajuta cât putem. As you can see, the wind is in my blood J … The pictures below show me and Peter ( then wind expert, now CEO at newenergyscout GmbH) installing one of the first measurement equipment in Romania, 5 years ago, on a GSM tower. The other picture shows my bigger sister in 1984 with a 3 cup anemometer and a wind vane in her hands. My father is responsible for this, and I thank him.

I was cleaning up my computer from viruses, old stuff, etc.. and i found some old pictures from Baia. If you don't know, Baia is almost the first location where turbine were installed in Romania. It started with one, then 2, 3 and now i heard they will do a bigger extension.

The guy in the black and red is me, having the first contact with a wind turbine, 5 years ago. I think that turbine was owned by a company named PENTIUM from Baia Mare. Now they don't own it anymore.

I was away in "Valea Teleajănului" this Friday with some work on 2 micro-hydro power plants. There were2x5.5 MW Francis turbines at "CHE Vălenii de Munte " . It was spectacular and i think you know what i mean about the sites - the spectacular views. On the road we first stopped at Nicolae Iorga memorial house where he lived with his 7 kids and the 2 wifes he had. I was amazed to find out that when he died he knew 15 languages. I only know 3 and a half, so....big difference :D . Anyway, i took some pictures :

After this, we went to"CHE Vălenii de Munte " small micro-hydro, with Francis turbines. I went down andhave seenthe turbine, clean and shiny . The turbineswork just 12 hours/day , six in the morning and six in the evening. As i heard, only 5 people work in the shifts. It is fully automated so hard work from the employees is not necessary.

A visit at the dam was the cherry on the cake. You should have seen the view from there. It was splendid. All the colors and the water, and the mountains were just perfect. This is what i like being a hydro engineer - being able to visit places that look like this.

After one hard work day, itwas necessary to have some rest. And we were lucky. Being in Vălenii de Munte , we had the nice surprise to find out the "Romanian prune brandy festival " called also "Festivalul Ţuicii" was in town. We had some grilled pastrami with garlic sauce and also some boiled red wine. It was just crazy. I also tried some prune brandy, original brand.

Last week, wile i was doing a site visit for a new project we have, i was surprised to see that some second hand turbines were prepared for being installed in the spring. From my information, they will install 3 at that location. The turbines are not in such good shape.

Acum să o luăm logic : Ai comunicate de presă de la CEZ, ai stiri in alte ziare sau site-uri, toată lumea vuieşte 2-3 zile la TV cu tot felul de "informaţii", şi tu ce faci ?...descoperi un parc eolian identic, dezvoltat tot de CEZ, dar nu in Dobrogea, in OLT . In comuna Doroteasa :)) ... După care tu, ca jurnalist ce zici : " Dacă tot nu ma pricep la energie, şi nici măcar nu ştiu să transform W in KW sau in MW, sau nici măcar nu ştiu că sunt diferite, mă uit eu asa pe nişte statistici şi ce zic : " Este primulproiect eolian important ce va fi realizat in Romania, unde in prezent se obtin din energie eoliana numai 7KW” . Bine că nu au pus o faţă pe acest articol, au pus doar agenţia NEWSIN...Măi băieţi, sau cred că mai mult fete...credeam că sunteţi mai competenţi de atât !

Mai jos aveţi ştirea asta ciudată :

" In comuna Dobroteasa din judetul Olt va incepe, in cursul acestei luni, constructia celui mai mare parc eolian pe uscat din Europa, conform unui comunicat remis miercuri presei de CEZ. Constructia parcului eolian de la Dobroteasa, ce urmeaza sa inceapa in aceasta luna, va fi finalizata, potrivit conducerii CEZ, pana la finele anului 2010. Acesta va avea o capacitate de 600 MW si va reprezenta cel mai mare parc eolian pe uscat din Europa. Valoarea investitiei, ce se va realiza in mai multe etape, se ridica la 1,1 miliarde de euro.

Prima etapa a constructiei va genera 347,5 MW, cu ajutorukl a 139 de turbine care vor incepe sa functioneze pana la sfarsitul lui 2009. Cea de-a doua etapa va genera 252,5KW. "Viteza vantului in zona este excelenta si proiectul este asezat atent pentru a minimiza efectul asupra mediului inconjurator. Cand va deveni complet operational, parcul eolian va reprezenta aproape 30% din energia regenerabila din Romania, incluzand si energia hidro. Este primulproiect eolian important ce va fi realizat in Romania, unde in prezent se obtin din energie eoliana numai 7KW”, se arata in comunicatul CEZ Romania.

Constructia parcului eolian de la Dobroteasa va fi gestionata de firma Continental Wind Partners (CWP), firma de la care CEZ Romania a achizitionat saptamana trecuta proiectele eoliene Fantanele si Colceag, situate la nord de Constanta. "

Bine măcar că la final au vâzut o parte din ştirea reală. Mă intreb ce a inţeles din această ştire omul de rând...şi ne mai mirăm de ceva....

On the 7th of October, TIB ( Bucharest International Technical Fair) started in Bucharest. A lot of newcomers this year, but still now sign of a professional wind energy fair. Maybe next year… Wondering around the fair, took some interesting pictures. Some guys thought that the best way to make a wind turbine spin is to put a vent in front of it. HA HA : try wind ;) . A new one is that ELECTROTEL says that they will start building photovoltaic panel next year…that should be interesting . ICPE was also there. They really think that they now what they are doing in this business . I wonder who lied to them …

While surfing on the net, on youtube.com, i tried to find the most interesting commercials on wind. The GE's commercials were the best, at least these two :

Fondul polonez de investitii Continental Wind Partners (CWP) are in derulare proiecte eoliene de 1.000 MW in Romania, estimate la 1,5 miliarde euro, din care ar putea fi finalizate capacitati de 250-300 MW, a declarat directorul general executiv Adan de Sola Pool.

Potrivit acestuia, CWP ar putea lua in considerare listarea la Bursa de Valori Bucuresti a unei firme care sa opereze proiectele eoliene pe care le deruleaza in Romania. CWP a vandut in urma cu o luna, catre CEZ, doua proiecte de 600 MW in Dobrogea.
